As is Missiongathering tradition, we will be having a Christmas Party! This year’s edition will be a Party for the Angels - a Street Angels Benefit sponsored by West Coast Tavern in North Park!
Come on by December 9th at 7:00pm for
- heavy hors d’oeuvres [provided by West Coast Tavern]
- the ever-so talented band Branches playing live!
- as well as our annual Ugly Sweater Contest [complete with trophy for the champion]!
And because we’re so amazing, we’ve given you an option for the cover charge - either $20, or a backpack filled with supplies [including socks, toilet paper, water bottles, a hoodie, and a blanket] will get you in the door for an evening of music, people, drinks, and fun!

We have two special Thanksgiving outings this week. Our Tuesday, November 22 outing will meet at 6:00 PM as usual at the church, but a group of folks preparing the food will arrive as early as 5:00. We have turkey, stuffing, and the works planned for both outings.
Our Saturday, November 26 outing will also meet a little earlier than the usual 11:00 AM so that we can get the food ready. Come be a part of these special meals of thanks.
Why not also clean out your closet of those sweaters and hoodies that don’t fit any more and bring them along to help our angels as the San Diego nights get colder.

Street Angels is teaming up with the Downtown Fellowship of churches to put together HAT Teams (Homeless Assistance Teams). These teams of 4-6 people will join with homeless individuals to stay with them as they transition off the streets into housing, and find employment, counseling, or any other needs to get them into a new life. Contact darin@streetangelsministry.com for more information on the November 19 training session.

Street Angels now has a van! We can’t say thanks enough to Harold and Penny Dokmo for donating the new Street Angels van. Having a van that can now accommodate two of our large wagons, as well as our volunteers allows Street Angels to dramatically increase the impact of each outing. Not only can we bring more supplies with us, but we can cover more territory. Donations like this are how we propel our mission forward and affect more lives. Thanks Dokmo family!

Street Angels is delighted to announce that Animal House Pet Store San Diego and By Nature pet foods have teamed up to make sure that the homeless dogs we encounter on our outings always have a meal, too. Their generous ongoing donation of natural organic dog food means the loyal companions to our angels on the streets will feel the love, too. Many thanks to these wonderful sponsors! Animal House Pet Store has been sharing the love of pets in North Park for 30 years, and we are simply delighted they are a part of Street Angels.

Best of luck to the two teenagers we met yesterday at Ocean Beach and sent back home on a bus to New York. When we find young homeless people sleeping on the concrete in San Diego who have a family back home just waiting to give them a bed to sleep in and a roof over their heads, we are so pleased to be able to get them back home. Check out our How You Can Help page to find out what you can do to help change young people's lives for the better.

Wheelchairs for the homeless. The Street Angels volunteers often run into folks on the street confined to wheelchairs. Most that we see are in poor condition, including broken or missing parts. If we had two of three new or gently used quality wheelchairs on hand, it would allow us to give them out as needed (we may not get a second chance to go find someone later if we don’t have one ready). If you can help us out, please email info@streetangelsministry.com

Thanks goes out to regular Street Angels supporter Pat Schwieder of Missouri who donated another round of many dozens of pairs of socks this month. Socks are our number one requested item. Imagine going on an outing after a long rain and being able to give new dry socks to someone who has been walking around with cold, wet feet. Thanks Pat for helping us give comfort to those in need!

Thanks to everyone who helped make our fundraiser a success. Special thanks to artist Norma Brinker and gallery owner Esther Beish at Main Street 5 Gallery at 124 E. Main St. in El Cajon. A portion of the proceeds from the sales from the exhibit will go directly to funding the very necessary work that we do at Street Angels. In addition to great art, the event had raffles every half hour, and live music by Eric Brinker, Ed Balduzzi, Tiffy Jane, and Alex Roller.

What a fantastic outing today in Ocean Beach! We had four new wonderful volunteers attend, including Paloma, a new volunteer who is also an EMT. In addition to feeding 30 people and giving supplies to about 35, we tended to some serious (and not so serious) first aid needs. How amazing to be able to feed, clothe, give necessities, AND offer healing to folks in need. Way to go volunteers!

Street Angels had a very special outing at Ocean Beach for Christmas day. In addition to our normal outing tradition of bringing supplies and a meal, we distributed wrapped packages of necessities like blankets, sleeping bags, hooded sweatshirts and socks. We consider the Street Angels to be part of our family, so we were pleased to be able to spend the holiday with our extended family opening Christmas gifts like many families do.

We prepared a traditional Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey, dressing, potatoes, and bread to share with the Street Angels on our downtown outing. For folks living on the streets, the idea of the traditional Thanksgiving celebration seated with your friends and family and a hot, home-cooked meal doesn’t exist. We felt privileged to be able to share this sit-down meal with about 3 dozen of our friends on the street, even if it meant sitting on the steps of the post office.
